third socks finished

Green_stripe_vesper_socks_sm_1 Green_stripe_vesper_socks_flat_sm_1 Green_stripe_vesper_socks_cuff Green_stripe_vesper_socks_toe It's still freakin' hot as blazes in Austin. The only projects that can be knit in this heat (without massive A/C blowing) are small and light. Nothing that will sit in your lap, nothing that puts a single extra fibre on your body. That's why socks are the perfect Texas summer knit and that's why I've finished my second pair in 3 weeks. I started these on the plane after we left Dallas, finished the first sock just after landing back in Austin and knit the 2nd sock last week.

I knew if was going to continue to knit this many socks, I'd have to invest in a pair of sock blockers. That is until I stumbled across a tutorial to make your own out of wire hangers. Brilliant! (And economical!) They're not pretty (hence the lack of a photo) but they work perfectly. I'm debating sending the tutorial with the socks to their new recipient north of the border.

Green Striped Vesper Socks

Finished: August 25th, over lunch at the office

I LOVE THOSE!!
They look so cool and perfect. Seriously. I really like the colors and the pattern and the fit. They're great.

Hey, thanks for the link to the do-it-yourself sock blockers! I think I'll whip myself up a pair!

So cool! I have that same yarn and I haven't done anything with it yet. I love the chunky stripes it makes!

Love your socks and the link for the sock blocker! Very sweet idea.

I love those colors! So pretty! :)

Ooh, tutorial on sock blockers? but no pics... would you be willing to take some pics of yours for Socktoberfest??

LOVE the socks, Caro! Perfect stripes!

Just lovely! The colors are great!

I consider you the expert on shorter socks now...how much yarn did you use for those? I might start making up shorter socks myself, since there isn't much of a need for wool knee-socks in Houston!

Great photos, and the stripes came out so nicely!

The colorway is perfect and I think it really suite's a shorter sock! Nice work.

ooo I love the round toe! i think I'm going to have to start doing that.

Snazzy!

Caro they're beautiful!! That's one of my fav colorways!

Fantastic greens! Stripes! *smitten*

You've become a super-producer, Caro. You are my arch nemesis.

Those are cute! I love the green stripes!

Thanks for the tip about airplanes - yay, I will have some time to knit!

Those look awesome! I can't believe the stripes lined up so well. I love the colors too!

I love the look of those socks - really fresh. :-)

I love when socks go so quick. Great colors!!!!

Very cute socks! Stay cool! (Or at least as cool as you can with this crazy weather!)

Ok fancy, you might actually talk me back into sock making. I made one pair, it came out fine and I abandoned the practice for other projects since I only wear socks when it's really, really cold and hubby makes me wear "real shoes". Flipflops are not real? I had no idea.

Show us your homemade sock blocker, please!

I heart these colors!
nice work.

Love the colors! What a great idea...make your own sock blockers!

Those socks are SUPER CUTE!!
