clap clap
The Daylight Saving time change is coming up which means it's getting trickier to get the daylight shots I like. There's simply no time after work, the gym, and an occasional adult beverage to set up a nice photo shoot. I've resorted to carting finished objects (ok, object, singular) to work for the finished pics. I didn't have room in my bag today for the package I received in the One Yard Fabric Swap, but those pictures will be coming up later this week too.
On to the finished stuff!
I knit 85% of this scarf in about 4 days from the two skeins of Silk Garden I bought back in April. As I got closer to finishing I realized the scarf needed to be a touch longer than I had yarn for. I put it down, panicked for 3 weeks and then decided to find another skein. Thankfully Hill Country Weavers still had the same colourway. It was a different dyelot and other than being slightly crunchier than the first two skeins, it was almost identical. Whew! Dodged a bullet with that one. I was really happy with the Noro this time around too. No sticks, no pokey bits, no knots and delightfully soft. Could it be Noro is listening?
Pattern: the ubiquitous Clapotis from Knitty
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, colour 203
Started: September 29th
Completed: October 23rd
Modifications: I knit the scarf version by knitting only the first set of increases.
Total cost: $33
Final Verdict: Score another one for the Christmas pile! (And I might have to make one for myself!)

Nice clap! I love the silk garden. It softens and floofs when you wash it.

Now, tell me.... Were you disappointed in the Noro? I have some silk garden and I'm really annoyed at how not soft it is.

I love that colorway! And Susan's right... her Silk Garden cardigan definitely softened up and is lurvely now.

hi caro, that's lovely! i have 3 skeins of one colorway of kureyon...i wonder if it would make a nice mini-clap scarf? how many repeats of the straight rows did you make? i am currently working on an almost-full-size clapotis in silk garden (with 6 skeins) and i am really enjoying it.
i made an edgar scarf (from knitty) back in january or february from silk garden. i was not impressed with the yarn--as you said, many twigs, knots, etc. but these new skeins i am working with now have been fine. perhaps the mfrs. *are* listening! :)

Pretty! I'm always amazed at how soft Silk Garden is, since the other noro varieties tend to be on the crunchy side.

Very nice! I'm going to have to make another one - I lost my other in a dark parking lot while digging for a ringing cell phone. Damn cell phones! Yeah, the light issue is getting to be a pain. Guess I'll have to do lunchtime photo shoots in the parking lot at work or trekking throught the state park.

Wow, the Silk Garden is such a great chioce for the lofty scarf....hmmmm, going to Hill Country Weavers at lunch for another skein for my Dad's scarf...may NEED to wander over Noro way.
